Good noontime everyone, I have posted to my left here two new pieces that can be found on my shop. They come as unlimited prints, cards or postcards. I am hoping to create a calender once I have completed the rest. The medium I used is gesso, acrylic, pen and digital. The idea is to use the theme object of cards to create empresses. The two images are titled as ‘Black Spade Empress’ and ‘Black Heart Empress’ People always ask if I am thinking of alice in wonderland when I do my really detailed work. I am not, I just love the idea of Empresses in different worlds. It really is just one approach of outlining their kingdoms for me.

Artist of the Week – Stella Im Hultberg

Hi folks, it has been a while since I did my artist of the week segment, so here it is, Stella Im Hultberg is based in Brooklyn New York. She uses Oils and pens amongst some other mediums. I love her sketch books, it just takes me back to my uni days. I do do sketches but I haven’t been limiting them to specific sketch books, though looking at her books is tempting to try it again. She puts alot of sweat into her pieces, as can be seen while looking at her progress pieces. My main appeal of her work is her style. Through her figurative work she introduces a rich mix of colours. Never having seen her work in real life, my feeling is that the characters would shimmer of the canvas or wood, inviting you to enter their world. Have a look at her site for more insight to her work at www.stellaimhultberg.com

Christmas Craft Fair – Ifull Coffee

cards-ifull-i

I decided to upload some images of handmade cards I have created for an up and coming craft fair in November. It is a Christmas fair at Ifull Coffee, a cafe based in Glasgow. You can find out more about the Cafe here. These designs are abstract, not the usual christmas designs. My idea is to focus more on the textured colours of the season. They are 3Dimensional and very detailed close up.

Artist of the Week – Kelly Vivanco

Hi everyone, Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was quiet busy, but all good fun time relaxing with friends. My artist for this week is Kelly Vivanco. You can link to her website here. Kelly works on her lovely paintings using acrylics. She has really mastered her technique and style. She paints cute little characters from frogs to squirrels. She also paints figurative narratives emersed in sublime worlds with streaming plants of sometimes unusual pigmentation. I like her work alot. Link to her site and have an adventure.

Abstracts

Today I visited a friend of mine. We talked about some inspirational stuff that can enhance both of our approaches to the art that we do. Also she gave me info on a local art fair I would like to get involved in, more of that later. Below are some of my abstract paintings of acrylic on paper. They are not recent work, but I have been getting some more ideas looking at them. They were fun to do. I did over sixty of them in a manic of inspiration. I will hopefully show most of them in my gallery under ‘Abstracts’ soon.Beat-38-40Beat-32-40Beat-59-60
